One of the purposes of the martial arts is to develop and discipline the human spirit. This discipline must be self-imposed in order for it to be meaningful; however external discipline is required in order to learn internal discipline. The name Renseikan literally means the house or place to develop or discipline the spirit - a reflection of our commitment to self-discipline. Although Karate , Aikido and Jodo look physically different, they are at their heart and soul, one and the same discipline. This can be said of all traditional martial arts. The method of training and practice is the same - constant repetition of both solo and partner exercises. The actual movements are secondary to the spirit or approach of the student. |

Adult Karate Renseikan Dojo offers Shorin-Ryu Karate classes for adults of all skill levels, five times per week. Evening classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and day classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Day and evening students participate together in the Saturday morning class | Early Start Karate Designed specifically for children 3 1/2 to 5 years of age, the Renseikan Early Start Karate Fitness is a half-hour program offered once a week. In our Early Start program, children will:
learn the basics of physical fitness and coordination become familiar with the elements of traditional Karate. | Children's Karate We offer three classes each week for children age 6 - 9. Each class runs 50 minutes and begins and ends with a short period of quiet time. As with all our Karate classes, the emphasis is on traditional Karate skills, including blocks, punches and kicks performed while in various Karate stances. | Adult Aikido Renseikan Dojo offers Yoshinkan Aikido classes for adults three times a week. Students wear a white dogi (uniform) similar to the ones used in judo. Aikido dogi are thicker then the dogi used in Karate because Aikido involves grabs and breakfalls on the tatami (padded floor). | Children's Aikido Renseikan offers children's Aikido classes three times a week. Each class runs 50 minutes and begins with a short period of zazen (quiet time). As in the Adult class, our children's Aikido classes begin with a short but thorough warm up, followed by ukemi practice (breakfalls). | Jodo Classes for Adults and Children Renseikan Dojo offers classes in Jodo (the way of the stick/staff) for both adults and children. Jodo is a weapons martial art in which students use a four foot wooden staff called a Jo. The Jo is a martial arts weapon with a long and fascinating history. |
