Professional Eye Exam
Since vision and ocular health conditions are not always accompanied by pain or recognizable symptoms, many people are lured into believing that their eye health is good. An annual Eye exam will detect Cataracts, Glaucoma, and Retinal Disease, as well as Diabetes and high blood pressure.
External Eye Examination
The external area of your eye will be examined for abnormalities.
Internal Eye Examination
The slit lamp microscope and an ophthalmoscope are used to check for abnormalities from front to back. Problems, which can be detected, include diabetes, or hypertension. Dr. Innamorato recommends the Optomap Retinal Exam as part of every annual eye exam.
Tonometry
Tonometry measures the fluid pressure in the eye, and is an important test in detecting glaucoma.
Vision Tests
Several tests are used to asses your vision:
Visual Acuity
This test will determine your ability to see small details, both near and far. You may sit behind a phoropter, where lenses are systematically changed until a clear focus is obtained.
Peripheral Vision
Your eyes will be evaluated on how well you see objects that are not directly in front of you.
Optomap Retinal Exam
The Optomap is a high tech, diagnostic tool that has recently become available to Optometrists. A laser assisted digital camera captures a high resolution image of the retina (back of the eye). This exam is at the forefront in technological advancements.
Coatings
Scratch Resistance - Scratch resistance coatings can be added to the front and back surfaces of our lenses to increase their resistance to scratches and protect your investment. Uncoated lenses will compromise your vision and detract from your appearance as scratches grow with everday use.
