Laurie?€¢âs Learn to Skate, a dynamic and fast growing organization, is committed to providing superior quality skating instruction to children of all ages and all levels.
Established by Laurie Shaw (former competitor and accomplished coach) to meet the growing needs of recreational skating instruction. Laurie?€¢âs Learn to Skate has developed programs for children to foster skating skills, structure and self confidence. Its ongoing success can be attributed to its dedicated team headed by Laurie Shaw. Laurie's Learn to Skate carefully will arrange groups according to age and ability, with the lowest student / instructor ratio in the area. By using an approach which is ?€©«fun?€?, the children are able to cultivate form, grace and co-ordination. |

Skating Instructions |
BEGINNER (level 1) (1/2 hr class) The child must be able to STAND ALONE on skates, GET UP by themselves and be able to WALK across the ice. | BEGINNER (level 2) (1/2 hr class) This Program is for the child who has completed all the elements in level 1 but not ready for a 40 minute pre-school class | PRE-SCHOOL (40 min class) This program is geared towards children who have completed Beginner level 1 or level 2 (each child varies). The Children are provided with the opportunity to experience the basics at a progressive pace. | SCHOOL AGE (40 min class) This program will develop strength and balance using various skills and techniques involved with skating. This is geared towards the beginner skater. | ADVANCED PRE-SCHOOL OR SCHOOL AGE (40 min class) This program is designed for the more advanced skater or child who would like to learn to play hockey or ringette and needs conditioning skills and touching up on certain areas. | FIGURE SKATING ( BEGINNER & ADVANCED ) (40 min class) For the skater who would like to learn figure skating skills. This program will develop various skills and techniques involved with figure skating.
This is at a recreational level. | SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (40 min class) Offered to hockey and ringette players who need to further advance their skating skills. E.X. backwards, stopping, crossovers, forward to backwards, etc.
Hockey equipment is optional. | ADULT SKATING (40 min class) This is a very relaxed program to come out and enjoy yourself. Learn at your own pace with instructors there to help you at any time. | GET READY FOR HOCKEY This program offers skating skills as well as some hockey drills. Scrimmage at the end of lesson. Skating skills include forward & backwards crossovers, side stopping, edge work forward and backwards skating |
