The Elliott House Restaurant as seen today is the renovation and extension of a colonial stone farmhouse, built sometime between 1836 and 1850. It is believed that the house was built by Adam Elliott, who emigrated from Roxborough, Scotland in 1817. He settled in Pell in 1825, but it was not until 1836, when he purchased this property. He practiced the Presbyterian Faith and was a subscriber to the Knox College Fund in 1848. He had four children. His son, John, built the first reaping machine in Canada. The 1861 Census lists Adam Elliott as a farmer, originating from Scotland and living in a stone, one story house.Come and experience this truly incredible dining establishment in one of the five private dining rooms. |
