In 1959, Harold Shipp, Bert Grant and John A. McDonald went into business together. On June 15, 1959, what had been a combination of a small GM dealership and a BA gas station known as Denny Motors, became Applewood Motors Limited. At the time, the dealership could be found on Tannery St. In Streetsville. In January of 1991, I joined Applewood. Being a recently retired Vice President of Marketing for GM of Canada, I came into the dealership as part owner, Executive Vice-President and General Manager. Today, the Atkinson family owns the dealership and are looking forward to the succession of our family through the business. Applewood is a successful GM dealership covering all facets of the retail automotive business. It's sales are in excess of $100 million per year with 130 employees. |
